About the PFA Awards

It is the biggest occasion in the football calendar, the night when the country's football professionals, sports VIP's, football industry and media gather to pay tribute to the men that have been chosen as the PFA’s Player s’ of the Year and of course to celebrate another year of the beautiful game.

Always a spectacular evening, the annual awards ceremony, held at the prestigious Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London and covered by SKY television is an event which has now become synonymous with this high profile, fast moving sport and it's wonderful participants.

April 2008 heralded 34 years of history of this special awards ceremony, and in that time The Great Room has seen so many of the games greatest stars honoured by their fellow professionals which is the ultimate tribute for any player.

In recent years the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Thierry Henry, Rudd van Nistlerooy, Roy Keane, and David Ginaola received the main accolade The Awards ceremony is also a time where we pay tribute to the games up and rising stars with the Young Player award, the winning all star divisional teams and the PFA special Merit Award which was awarded to Jimmy Armfield OBE in 2008 where he received a standing ovation for his significant contribution to football at all levels of the game.
