It’s a case of the usual suspects in the Premier League as Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney, Chelsea forward Nicolas Anelka and Arsenal skipped Cesc Fabregas find themselves in contention for the PFA Fans’ Premier League Player of the Month.
Rooney has been in great form for United and added a four-goal haul at the weekend to stake his claim. Fabregas has been rejuvenated at Arsenal, and starred for the Gunners in back-to-back victories over Bolton.
Anelka shone for Chelsea in the absence of Didier Drogba, scoring a brace in the rout over Sunderland. Stamford Bridge teammates John Terry and Frank Lampard are also in the running after stellar performances in the same game.
Carlos Tevez shouldn’t be discredited, with the little Argentine scoring a hat-trick against Blakburn and impressing for City. Jermain Defoe, Andrey Arshavin, Michael Ballack and Antonio Valencia are also in the running.

CHAMPIONSHIP
Blackpool captain Charlie Adam is one of the favourites to land the PFA Fans’ Player of the Month in the second tier after a string of inspirational performances for the Tangerines.
Ian Holloway took a £500,000 gamble in the summer, but that seems like a bargain as the Seasiders battle for a play-off place thanks largely to the 12 goals of midfielder Adam.
December Fans’ Award winner Billy Sharp is again in contention, and the striker continues to shine whilst on loan at the Keepmoat.
Swansea midfielder Darren Pratley, a serial contender, finds himself in the running again after some solid midfield displays.
Peterborough United captain George Boyd completes the list, a surprise to many at first glance. However, Boyd continues to give Posh hope, and the Cambridgeshire side would be in serious trouble without his 12 goals so far this season.

LEAGUE ONE
Jermaine Beckford is once again the man to catch in the third team, with the Leeds striker looking to add to his November and December awards after taking his total of goals to 21 this season.
Teammates Patrick Kisnorbo and Robert Snodgrass are also in the mix as the Whites continue to impress in three competitions.
Southampton striker Rickie Lambert is fighting for the rest of League One, and could wrestle the trophy away from Elland Road with his 21 goals so far.

LEAGUE TWO
Rochdale are on fire at the top of League Two, and it’s no surprise that striker Chris O’Grady is in the mix for the PFA Fans’ League Two Player of the Month after his weekend hat-trick against Cheltenham.
Notts County keeper Kasper Schmeichel has been doing the business at the other end of the pitch and is deservedly in the mix, while Burton striker Tony James is another forward in contention.
Finally, Shrewsbury midfielder Terry Dunfield has helped guide the Shrews into the play-off spots, and Paul Simpson’s lucky charm has been in great form this January.
