PFA Delegates
A delegate is appointed from the squad of players at each professional football club to act as a conduit and point of contact for the Association with its members.
For the Association to be strong, a delegate has to be committed and be understanding of the importance of the key role that the PFA has in maintaining and furthering all professional footballers’ rights and benefits.
A delegate’s duties require little time to fulfil, but require a commitment from the player to his fellow professionals in order for him to perform his duties.
The important tasks entrusted to delegates are as follows:
➢ To inform players’ of the benefits available to members.
➢ To convey important information to members.
➢ To seek advice, assistance and representation for members as required.
➢ To arrange club meetings with members for PFA executives.
➢ To administer the collection of subscriptions
➢ To distribute disengaged forms to all out-of-contract members.
➢ To distribute and collect Ballot Forms for the PFA and FIFPro Player of the Year Awards.
➢ To inform members of the Professional Footballers’ Pension Scheme.
➢ To provide feedback on any area of PFA activity that can be improved in order to provide a better service to members.
➢ To attend the Annual General Meeting in Manchester to hear the Chief Executive’s report and discuss any relevant issues.
The role of the delegate is vital to the PFA in communicating with its members and through the delegate we will arrange meetings to convey important information to players and send correspondence from time-to-time to update our members on matters that affect their career.

PFA Delegate Liaison Department
In order to support delegates in their role we have a specific delegate liaison department whose job is to assist the delegate at each of the 92 professional football clubs and further improve the communication we have with our members.
The executives liase regularly with delegates via telephone, SMS and e-mail and visit clubs to have meetings with players to discuss the benefits and services of the PFA and update members regarding topical issues and matters that affect their career such as anti-doping procedures, agent regulations, injury insurance, education and retraining, etc.
The executives are all former players and therefore understand the problems invariably encountered by members and are experienced in football contracts, regulations, and representation at employment or disciplinary tribunals.
