Terry Brown and Wimbledon have a point to prove this season as they attempt to guide AFC Wimbledon back into the Football League.
The Dons have been smarting ever sine they were taken over by the
Milton Keynes Dons and still refer to them as Franchise FC.
The well-documented row has now been forgotten by most of the Football League, but Wimbledon supporters will not rest until they are punching alongside their Milton Keynes rivals and their plush stadium.
Wimbledon dropped down into the depths of non-league, but a move to Kingstonian’s Kingsmeadow ground saw them galvanised and support levels have grown each year as they take a step closer to the Football League.
They finally reached the Blue Square Premier this season after winning the Blue Square South League and Brown will want to go one step further.
He was in charge of an
Aldershot side that came within a penalty shoot-out of returning to the Football League before handing over the reins to Gary Waddock, who achieved their dream.
Brown is now responsible for making another fairytale come true and intends to make it over the finishing line on this occasion.
“Until I actually get into the Football League I suppose in a way I’m a bit of a nearly man,” he told the Wimbledon Guardian.
“But going into the Blue Square Premier with Wimbledon is a massive milestone for me. There are not that many clubs that you could achieve something like this with, and I am very fortunate to be at such a fantastic place.”
