Craig Bellamy was born on July 13th, 1979 in Canton, Cardiff and was a youth team player with Norwich City. His first team debut for the Canaries came at Crystal Palace on 15 March 1997 and he soon developed into an exciting attacking midfielder/forward with pace and an eye for goal. Craig became a first team regular in the 1997-98 season, making 38 appearances and scoring 13 goals. The summer of 2000 saw him complete a move to Coventry City for £6.5 million but when Coventry were relegated, Craig moved again – to Newcastle United where he formed a productive striking partnership with Alan Shearer, Bellamy's pace complementing the former England captain's guile.
At the end of his first season, Bellamy was awarded the PFA Young Player of the Year award. After a loan period with Celtic where he was part of the squad that went onto win the Scottish Cup, his first career trophy, it was announced in July 2005 that he had been bought by Blackburn Rovers for a transfer fee between £2.5 million and £5 million. After scoring seventeen goals for Blackburn in a successful season, he was transferred to Liverpool for a fee rumoured to be in the region of £6.5 million. He signed for the club on 23 June 2006 and officially became a Liverpool player on July 1, 2006. Craig Bellamy made his international debut for Wales during the 1997-98 season. Over his international career he has scored a total of 11 goals and collected 42 caps.
