Gary Neville was born on 18th February 1975 in Bury, Lancashire. He started his career at Old Trafford as a central defender, but was later converted into a full back. He turned professional in 1993, making his first team debut aged 17 and has been one of United's most consistent and committed performers since establishing himself in the side in 1994-95. In 1995-96 he played over 30 games and was an important factor in United's second League and FA Cup double. Composed, tough tackling, comfortable at full back or in the centre of defence, his mature and commanding temperament makes him an asset at both club and international level.
His many qualities include copious reserves of physical and mental resilience, and he is a natural leader of any team in which he finds himself. Now possessing a wealth of experience at club and international level, with his phenomenal long throws, his swift, solo right wing overlaps and dangerous low crosses, neither his club nor national manager will find him an easy man to replace. In March 2006, Gary made his 500th senior appearance for Manchester United in a Premiership match against Birmingham City - only the eleventh player to do so. With United, Gary has won five Premiership titles, two FA Cups and one European Cup winners' medal. At international level, Gary Neville is England's most capped right full back, and also Manchester United's club captain. He made his international debut in 1995 and has been first choice right back for club and country for more than ten years.
