Lee Dixon was born on March 17th, 964 in Manchester. Lee worked his way to the top of football slowly - he played for Burnley (where he served his apprenticeship), Chester City, Bury and Stoke City before he was signed by Arsenal boss George Graham in January 1988 for £400,000. Here he was to become part of the legendary Arsenal back four alongside Tony Adams, Steve Bould and Nigel Winterburn. For over a decade, the four no-nonsense defenders provided the backbone as firstly George Graham and latterly Arsene Wenger led the Gunners to an array of silverware. Dixon was a marauding right back, ever willing to support wingers such as David Rocastle and his attacking skills were noticeable even though his main job (and the main priority of the side as a whole) was to defend. He also had a short spell during this period as the club's penalty taker.

Throughout his career at Highbury, Dixon won two Football League Championship and two Premiership winners' medals - the latter won as part of the 1998 and 2002 Double years. Dixon made his England debut in April 1990 in a World Cup warm-up game against Czechoslovakia. By the end of 1991, he had played in eleven internationals, including all of the Euro 92 qualifiers, through which England reached the finals in Sweden. Unfortunately, injury forced Lee to miss out. In 1994, he won a European medal to complement his domestic collection when Arsenal beat Parma 1-0 in the European Cup Winners' Cup final in Copenhagen.
