Michael Kay is a defender with Sunderland, having developed through the club's youth set-up.
Michael is essentially a right back, but has used his height and strength to good advantage in a central defensive role, captaining the reserves from this position.
He has also played in midfield, where his tenacious tackling and leadership qualities made a ball-winning role a natural progression.
Michael made his first -team debut in the FA Cup replay against Blackburn in February 2009, and has used this experience to add maturity to his game.
