Richard Dunne is a defender who plays for Aston Villa. After beginning his career at Everton and then Manchester City, Richard moved to Villa in August 2009 and has quickly settled into the side, winning popularity amongst supporters thanks to his fearsome tackling and aerial dominance.
Playing as a central defender he has also become useful when moving up into attack for dead-ball situations, from which he has scored three goals already this season. Richard made his debut in the 1-0 away win against local rivals Birmingham City and scored his first goal for Villa in a 1-1 draw with Manchester City, where he drew praise for refusing to celebrate against his old club.
A veteran of over 400 club games, Richard has made 59 appearances for the Republic of Ireland, the latest coming in November 2009 during the controversial World Cup qualifying play-off with France.
