Teddy Sheringham was born on April 2nd, 1966 in Highams Park, London. Teddy began his professional career at Millwall in 1982 at the age of sixteen. He was the club's top goal-scorer in four different seasons and played in every single game of the season for them twice; in 1986-87 and 1990-91. In July 1991, he was sold to Nottingham Forest in a £2million deal but in August 1992, he moved to Tottenham Hotspur for £2.1million.

Teddy was hugely popular with the Tottenham fans and by the mid-1990’s was recognised as one of the best strikers in the Premiership. Joining Manchester United in June 1997 in a £3.5million deal, he finally won a major trophy – the Premiership title in 1999. A week later he scored one of United's two goals in the F.A Cup final to yield his second honour. Four days after the F.A Cup triumph, Sheringham scored a dramatic stoppage-time equaliser against Bayern Munich in the European Cup final as United won the unique treble of the Premiership, F.A Cup and European Cup.

Teddy is one of a small group of footballers who have played top-flight football while in their forties. In August 2006 he became the oldest outfield player in the history of the division, at 40 years 139 days, and in December 2006 became the oldest Premiership scorer. He earned fifty-one caps and scored eleven times for England and in 2001 was both PFA Players' Player of the Year and Football Writers' Association Footballer of the Year.
