Teemu Tainio is a versatile midfield player for Sunderland who joined Birmingham City in a season-long loan deal covering the 2009-10 campaign.
A good all-round footballer who uses the ball intelligently and reads the game well, Teemu can play anywhere across the middle line.
Early on this season he played (and scored) in Sunderland’s Carling Cup win at Norwich before his move to St Andrew’s shortly before the transfer deadline.
Teemu played his first game for Blues at right back, but has since reverted to his usual role in the centre of the park.
A regular in the Finland international squad in recent years his most recent appearance came in the World Cup qualifying tie against Azerbaijan in September 2009.
