Ajax boss Martin Jol has expressed an interest in signing Liverpool forward Ryan Babel in January.

Babel has made no secret of his frustration and lack of first team opportunities at Liverpool.  As reported by GIVEMEFOOTBALL.COM on 24th August, Rafa was evenconsidering cashing in on the pacey forward.

The Holland international has recently come out and declared an interest in moving back to his former side on loan. The 22 year old has expressed disappointment he hasn’t been given first team opportunities promised by Rafa Benitez.

The Dutch international knows he needs to be playing regularly to secure his place in the Netherlands World Cup squad so would relish a 6-month loan in the run up to South Africa.

Ajax coach Martin Jol is open to to the move but remained coy. He said:

“I’ve read what he said, but I don’t have anything to say at the moment.

“Babel does appeal as a good option, but it all depends on whether we need him when the time comes.”

Babel moved from Ajax to Liverpool in July 2007 for a fee in the region of £14 million.
