Nicolas Anelka has held talks with Bolton boss Sammy Lee and assured him of his desire to play in the Premier League for the Trotters next season.
Anelka is due to travel with Bolton to South Korea on Monday to take part in the Peace Cup after he missed a training camp in Austria to recuperate following his efforts for France in two Euro 2008 qualifiers last month.
"I have sat down with Sammy Lee over the weekend and he has outlined his plans for the coming season," Anelka told the club's website. "I like his philosophy and I am looking forward to working with him at the club. He is passionate and wants to continue Bolton's recent success.
"His ambition matches mine and I want to commit to him. There has been a lot of speculation about my future, but I can honestly say that I am very happy in England and at Bolton. This is a great club with a strong mentality based around being successful.
"We head off to South Korea this week and that will be a good test for us. The summer has been busy for me with internationals and the fact that I got married. The close season has been short, but I feel refreshed and ready for the new season."
Lee is delighted with the news and added: "I have been concerned about the speculation in the media linking some of my players with moves away from the club. It has been unsettling, but I remain confident that quality players will want to stay here.
"I had a very positive conversation with Nicolas (Anelka) and he has given me his commitment. He enjoys playing for Bolton and last season he felt that his career was progressing back to his best on the back of his solid performances for us.
"I know he has ambitions of playing in the Champions League again, which I hope can be achieved with us.
"If that can't be the case, I will not stand in his way should a Champions League club come in for him and the deal is right for Bolton Wanderers. Until that time, he doesn't want to play football anywhere else but here."
Still with developments at the Reebok and keeper Ali Al-Habsi, signed by Sam Allardyce in 2006 but yet to make an appearance for the first team due the fine form of Jussi Jaaskelainen, is hoping he can finally make the breakthrough under new manager Lee.
"I hope this season I get my chance to play for Bolton," he said in Bangkok, where Oman will play all their Group A games in the Asian Cup. "We have the Premier League the FA Cup and the League Cup and maybe this year will be my chance to play some games and prove myself.
"I am very happy in England, especially to be able to work with Jaaskelainen, he is one of the best goalkeepers in the English Premier League. I have worked with him for about a season now and it is great. He is a very good person and he has helped me a lot in training.
"It is good for me to watch him play in training and it is a good experience. I train hard, waiting for my opportunity and I hope to get it."
