Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is reportedly ready to step up his chase for French striker Loic Remy.
The 23-year-old has been a long time target at the Emirates, with Arsenal sending scouts to monitor the young forward during the January transfer window.
A move never materialised and the Gunners ran out of time to make a striker addition, although scout Gilles Grimandi reported that the club would be interested in a summer move.
“We know the potential of Remy. He has one of the greatest potentials in France and perhaps even in Europe over the next five years," said the former midfielder at the time.
"He has a physical standard that is outside the usual."
Fresh reports in The Sun now suggest that Wenger will indeed make a move when the window opens again, with Remy's agent stoking the fire already.
"Arsenal are interested in Remy for next season," said Frederic Guerra.
Signed to the Lyon junior setup at the age of 10, Remy made his debut for Les Gones in 2005. He would only manage 12 senior appearances in Ligue 1 in the next three years, but gained his first break in 2008 when loaned out to Lens.
Three goals in 10 league appearances at the Stade Félix Bollaert shot the striker to prominence in France, and an €8 million move followed to Nice. The club record signing at the time, Remy has gone on to score 20 goals in 56 league appearances for Les Aiglons.
International recognition came with his increase in prominence, with an U21 debut for Les Bleus in 2007. Senior call-ups followed, and Remy earned his first cap in 2009 as a substitute against Nigeria.
In with a chance of making the French side for the trip to South Africa, the player is currently valued at around the £14 million mark and is seen as one of the hottest prospects in european football at the moment.
With Wenger's track record of developing young talent into superstars in north London, there is growing expectation that the French professor will make a move for his fellow countryman.
