Arsenal are reportedly monitoring Lille striker Gervinho with a view to a possible summer move.

The 22-year-old striker was heavily linked with a move to the Gunners last summer, but Gervinho completed an €8 million move to OSC from Le Mans rather than joining Arsenal.

The Ivorian forward has only enhanced his repuation after switching clubs in Ligue 1, with 13 goals in just 27 appearances so far this season.

At international level, Gervinho has earned 13 caps for his country with four goals to his name. He is expected to be in the The Elephants' squad for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

Continental sources place Louis Van Gaal as the favourite for the striker's signature, with the Champions League semi-final boss looking at possible replacements for Luca Toni, Arjen Robben or Franck Ribery. The Bundesliga side are unlikely to keep hold of all three players.

Arsene Wenger is the other reported manager taking a look at the player, who had previously expressed his desire at a move to the Emirates when the Gunners were linked.

"I am aware of Wenger following me since the age of 17," Gervinho told SkySports in the summer of '09.

"He is a great coach and when a great manager appreciates you it makes you feel confident enough to play at the highest level."

The French boss could reignite his interest in the striker as the north London side look for a powerful striker to spearhead their attack.
