Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger faces a battle with Inter Milan and Wolfsburg for the signature of Nassim Ben Khalifa.

The striker was the subject of much transfer speculation at the end of 2009, and Arsenal were one of a handful of clubs linked with a move for the highly rated 18-year-old.

Reports in German paper Bild suggest that Die Wölfe are the new favourites for the forward, news that will spark Arsene Wenger into action if he has serious aspirations of landing the Grasshoppers Zurich striker.

The Swiss Super League side are believed to be in financial difficulties, and Ciriaco Sforza might be forced to sell his prized asset for a relatively cheap price in the current market.

A €2.5 million bid is thought to be all that's needed to secure the Swiss junior star's services, a tempting valuation considering his performances in the Under 17 World Cup.

It was here that Frenchman Wenger first took notice of Ben Khalifa as the youngster took a starring role in his countries surprise victory last November.

At senior level, Ben Khalifa has scored twice for his club side in 12 appearances. Although not a blistering record, the striker is seen as one of the hottest properties in european football. With interest continuing to grow, the Gunners boss will have to decide soon if he wants to add to his weak strike force at the Emirates. With a track record of developing youth talent in north London, it would be no surprise to see Wenger make his move for this young talent.
