Arsenal could be set to make a shock January raid for out of favour Tottenham striker Roman Pavlyuchenko.

According to reports today, Pavlyuchenko's agent Oleg Artemov claims that Arsenal are among the clubs chasing the Russian international’s signature.

The 27-year-old has played little first team football at White Hart Lane this season since falling out of favour with Spurs boss Harry Redknapp and has slipped down the pecking order behind teammates Jermain Defoe, Robbie Keane and Peter Crouch.

Manager Arsene Wenger is now thought to be interested in signing the Spurs striker after Robin Van Persie was ruled out for up to four months.

Oleg Artemov told tuttomercatoweb: "We are not happy about his situation at Tottenham, so we'll do everything to ensure that he can change club in January.

"There were contacts with Roma but for now only by phone.

"Interested in the player are also Spartak Moscow, Arsenal and Zenit (St Petersburg), anything can happen."
