Arsene Wenger is ready to give Tomas Rosicky a contract extension, hoping to again see the best of the Czech international with Arsenal.

The 29-year-old recently returned to full fitness following a frustrating 18-month spell on the sidelines, but suffered a fresh injury setback with a minor groin problem which has ruled him out of Sunday's Barclays Premier League trip to Liverpool.

Rosicky signed from Borussia Dortmund during May 2006, and his current deal will expire at the end of the season, but Wenger said: "I want extend his contract, so that shows you how patient I am (with him)."

He added: "I look first for the quality of the player, at his attitude and at his leadership.

"The injuries can happen to anybody. Tomas is not responsible for what happened to him."

Wenger is confident Rosicky can hit top form once again.

"At the moment he has small setbacks which keep him out for eight to 10 days, but once he can regularly play again, he will come back to his normal level."
