Arsene Wenger’s top young Gunners Jack Wilshere and Aaron Ramsey have committed their long-term future to the club – much to the delight of the Arsenal manager.

Both are considered crucial to the development of the club as Wenger continues his policy of putting his faith in youth.

Midfielder Wilshere, who signed professional terms when he turned 17 on New Year's Day, is the youngest player to play for the club in the league and in Europe.

"He made great progress last season, at Under 18s, reserves and first team level and we saw what a great talent he is," said Wenger.

Ramsey has also signed a new long-term contract at the Emirates having made 22 appearances for the Gunners last season.

Wenger added: "He made a very good contribution and he showed that he is a very intelligent player with great quality.

"He is still only 18 and we're really looking forward to seeing him develop with us in the forthcoming years."
