Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola is reportedly eyeing up a move for Jermain Defoe to bolster his strike force in January.

Defoe has been in scintillating form for Spurs this season and has caught the attention of the Barcelona manager.

The Spurs striker is currently the Premier League’s joint top scorer with 11 goals, and bagged an astonishing five goals against Wigan earlier this month.

Since returning to White Hart Lane last January, Defoe has continued to improve and on current form could be considered the best finisher in the Premier League.

It is thought that only a huge offer in the region of £25m would persuade Harry Redknapp to part with Tottenham hit man.

However, it is unlikely Defoe would move again in the near future, fearing he may damage his chances of going to next summer’s World Cup in South Africa.
