Berger back in training

By PA Sport  February 13, 2006
Patrik Berger returns to training on Monday with Aston Villa after a three-and-a-half-month lay-off - having initially expected to only be sidelined for three weeks.

Berger has been out of action with a knee problem since the 3-1 defeat in late October by Manchester City - Villa´s FA Cup fifth round opponents on Sunday.

The Czech midfielder underwent an operation in this country but admits that was a mistake and should have turned to America-based surgeon Dr Richard Steadman, as he has done in the past. Berger eventually sought out Steadman when it became clear he was struggling for fitness and a diagnosis of recuperation and rehabilitation has finally done the trick for the 32-year-old.
