Lee Bowyer vowed to repay Newcastle´s supporters after they gave the disgraced midfielder a standing ovation when he appeared as a substitute in the 1-0 UEFA Cup semi-final victory over Sporting Lisbon. After his fisticuffs with team-mate Kieron Dyer on Saturday Bowyer has found himself the centre of unwanted attention but after a public apology, the St James´ Park crowd displayed their forgiveness.Bowyer appeared as a second half replacement - for Keiron Dyer - but the bile some may have expected never surfaced. "It was really good, I couldn´t have asked for any more. I did a little article in the local paper today and just asked them to give me a chance, and thankfully they have done that and hopefully I can repay them in the future," Bowyer told ITV2.
