Burnley manager Owen Coyle has made his third signing of the summer by securing the services of defender David Edgar.

The 22-year-old Canadian has agreed a four-year deal with the newly-promoted Premier League side.

Because of his age, Burnley are now in the process of trying to agree a fee with Newcastle, where his contract expire on June 30.

Edgar made seven starts for the Magpies last season as they were relegated to the Coca-Cola Championship.

He follows striker Steven Fletcher and right back Tyrone Mears to Turf Moor as Burnley prepare for their first top flight campaign in 33 years.
