Former Norwich City midfielder Andy Johnson believes the club has was it takes to survive in the Barclays Premier League this season.
Favourites for the drop under Paul Lambert, the Canaries have made a decent start to the campaign with two draws in their opening three matches and a harsh defeat at Chelsea the only blotch on their record to-date.
The East Anglian outfit will need to start getting some wins under their belt at some stage though, and Johnson believes that while that isn't a problem at this stage, the club need to be careful in avoiding a yo-yo situation.
“I don’t think it’s too much of a concern at this stage. It’s not like they have played badly," said the former midfielder.
“I watched the Norwich game against Chelsea and I thought they were really outstanding and deserved a lot more than they got out of the game. Getting into the Premier League is great but it’s very, hard to stay there and some clubs have this yo-yo period.
“But I think Norwich have a very good chance of staying up.
“The adrenalin gets you through the first season. The first season’s always great, you’re riding on the crest of a wave – but if you stay up, the second season and third season are tough and that’s where you really have to dig in and earn your money."
Johnson's comments come ahead of the weekend clash between two of his old teams, Norwich and West Bromwich Albion, at Carrow Road this weekend.
