A host of Europe’s top clubs including Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City are chasing the signature of Benfica winger Angel Di Maria.

In recent months the Premier League trio along with Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona have all been linked with a move for the Argentinean ace.

The skillful winger has been highly impressive for Benfica this season who currently are top of the table in Portugal.

It was recently reported that United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has been handed a £100m transfer war chest to spend this summer.

It is thought that Di Maria is a top transfer target for Ferguson who has been unimpressed with the performances of wide men Antonio Valencia and Luis Nani as he looks for a more adequate replacement for Christino Ronaldo.

Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti is also interested in the 22-year-old, who may be seen as a potential replacement for Joe Cole, who’s career at Stamford Bridge looks increasingly uncertain.

Di Maria has made 26 appearances so far for Benfica scoring four goals and providing nice assists.
