Chelsea face competition from Juventus in the race to sign Argentine international striker Gonzalo Higuain.

The Real Madrid hitman has been heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in recent months, with Andre Villas-Boas courting this season's 14-goal striker in Spain.

Despite the strikes coming in just 20 La Liga matches, Higuain isn't an automatic selection at the Santiago Bernabeu, with competition between the 24-year-old and French international Karim Benzema fierce.

It's led to speculation over the former River Plate starlet's future in the Spanish capital, with Juventus now joining the former Porto boss in their interest in the player. The bianconeri have made Higuain their No.1 target.

"We are willing to fight with Chelsea to recruit him," a source close to the club told TuttoSport.

It's claimed that the Antonio Conte is willing to offer in the region of £25 million to bring the player to the Juventus Stadium, money that Jose Mourinho would look to invest elsewhere in the Los Blancos squad.

The speculation could spark the Blues into action though, with the onus now on Villas-Boas to make the next move if he wants to stop the striker from making a Serie 'A' switch in the summer.
