Chelsea are preparing a shock £10 million bid for Everton star Landon Donovan, according to The People.

The LA Galaxy forward is currently on loan at Everton and has quickly adjusted to life in the Premier League with a series of impressive performances.

It has been rumoured that Donovan could replace Joe Cole, who could be on the move when the transfer window reopens after stalling on agreeing a new contract with Chelsea.

Like manager David Moyes, Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti has been impressed with the American international as he looks to strengthen his midfield.

Donovan’s loan spell at Everton is due to expire on March 15 but the MLS star could soon return to the Premier League in the summer with both Chelsea and Everton chasing his signature.

Since moving to Everton on loan Donovan has made ten appearances scoring one goal.
