Chelsea have been reported to be lining up a move for Juventus striker Vincenzo Iaquinta, according to The Times.

Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti is in search of a new striker to boost his attacking options and has indentified the Italian international as a top transfer target.

Nicolas Anelka has been passed the responsibility of keeping Chelsea at the top of the table in Drogba’s absence. However, If Anelka was to pick up an injury this month the Blues would be severely lacking firepower in attack.

Iaquinta himself has been sidelined for two months with a knee injury and may not be able to fill the void immediately left by Didier Drogba who is participating in the African Nations Cup this month.

Iaquinta would be suited to the Premier League with his strength, pace and versatility amongst his key attributes. The 30-year-old has also made 35 appearances for Italy and scored five goals.
