Match winner John Terry praised his side’s efforts as Chelsea extended their winning run at Stamford Bridge under Carlo Ancelotti.
That’s ten wins on the bounce now, and the most impressive statistic is that in those games they have conceded just one goal.
It wasn’t a vintage
Chelsea performance, but it was effective once again. Blues’ skipper
Terry said: “Another clean sheet for us, we talk about the attacking players and midfielders coming back and working hard for the team and that's exactly what we got.
"The five-point lead was exactly what we wanted coming into the game, we've been working on it all week. That wasn't the best of games but I think overall we deserved it."
The scorer of the goal was unclear, with both Terry and teammate
Nicolas Anelka appearing to make contact with
Frank Lampard's free kick.
Terry added: "I got a touch on it but I think maybe Nico got the second touch - but I'm still claiming it!
"I was watching the stats before the game and I've never scored against them home and away, but Nico's been brilliant so he deserves it."
Anelka said: "I don't know, I think I touched the ball but maybe John will claim it. I touched the ball but I don't know what happened after that, we will see on TV.
"We played good football and we had some chances but we stayed compact in defence and managed to score one goal.
"It's very good, we wanted to win because we know
United are a big rival for the league and it's always good to have five points on top of United."
