Chelsea are being strongly linked with a January move for AC Milan striker Alexandre Pato.

The Daily Mail reports that Roman Abramovich wants the Blues to break the bank for French star Franck Ribery, but reports in Italy claim that Carlo Ancelotti is keen to go for the striker at his former club.

Il Riformista has claimed that a €58 million bid could be placed on the table by Chelsea, and given that the Stamford Bridge boss is a known admirer of the Brazilian striker, it seems a move could be in the offing.

The pair are believed to be in regular phone contact, with Ancelotti regarded as a mentor for the 20-year-old striker during their time together at the San Siro.

No official comment has been made by either club, but with Chelsea having their January transfer ban lifted by the Court of Arbitration for Sport, the Blues are ready to make a move with the coveted striker their number one target.
