Fulham boss Chris Coleman declared mission accomplished after ending his two-and-a-half-year pursuit of France centre-back Philippe Christanval.

Out-of-contract Christanval - who includes Monaco, Barcelona and Marseille among his former clubs - has agreed a three-year contract with Fulham and could be available for Saturday´s Barclays Premiership trip to Newcastle. The 27-year-old´s arrival will strengthen Fulham´s defence and Coleman is delighted to attract such a formidable operator to Craven Cottage.

"Everything is sorted with the arrangements - we are just waiting for transfer clearance. I am delighted to get Philippe because we were looking to add some depth to our defence," he said.
