Newcastle midfielder Kieron Dyer will battle his way through the remainder of the gruelling holiday schedule to ensure he is at the top of his form for the rest of the season.

The England midfielder, who celebrates his 28th birthday on Friday, managed only 55 minutes of Tuesday´s 2-1 Barclays Premiership defeat at Bolton after turning in a blistering 70 minutes in Saturday´s 3-1 win over Tottenham.

Dyer said: "It is still like a pre-season for me. To be honest, after 70 minutes against Tottenham, I had nothing left in the tank. But, if I can get through this Christmas period, then I should be 100% fit and able to go all guns blazing from there."
