The Football Association have called for the "strongest possible sanctions" to be taken against those responsible for crowd trouble during Hull's 2-0 win over Millwall.
Hull are seeking financial compensation from the London club after more than 50 seats were ripped out and used as missiles at the KC Stadium, and toilets were destroyed. Twelve people were arrested by police.
An FA spokesman said: "These are the sorts of things we never want to see in a football stadium. We are working with the clubs and the police to investigate what happened."
The spokesman added: "The priority is to identify the individuals who were responsible and we would like to see anyone found guilty of football-related violence given the strongest possible sanctions, including banning orders from attending matches in this country."
Hull claimed in a statement that a significant number of Millwall fans had "arrived with the single intention of causing maximum disruption."
Millwall pledged to "rid this club of the element that caused problems" in a statement of their own.
