Javier Mascherano has called England’s dealings with Carlos Tevez ‘ugly’, with the former Liverpool midfielder insisting that the striker hasn’t had a chance to tell his side of the story.

"Carlitos has done so much for Man City that I think it is so ugly what they are doing to him now. I can't believe what is going on,” he said.

"Everyone attacks him even when he can't defend himself. It's so unfair. England is a complicated place, because when something like this happens, everyone attacks you."

Mascherano played for Liverpool for three years before moving to Barcelona in 2010. The 27-year-old is well known for being fiery, and in particular has had some controversial incidents take place when Liverpool took on Manchester United.

And the ex-Liverpool man, who has played alongside Tevez for Argentina, wants for Tevez to be given a chance to explain himself before City punish him further.
