Gary Neville fails to endear himself to the Liverpool fans after passing comment on their Champions League exit....

"You get what you deserve as a team, don't you. We're where we are because we deserve to be there. And it's the same with Liverpool. We went out of the competition ourselves after the group stage a few years back Liverpool haven't performed well enough in the Champions League this season to get the results, simple as that."

Wigan Chairman Dave Whelan absolves manager Roberto Martinez of any blame for their 9-1 thrashing at Spurs and instead points the finger at former boss Steve Bruce…

"He has got a difficult time, he inherited a team that was a little bit weak on reserves when Steve (Bruce) left, Steve actually had a few dodgy signings just before he left Wigan and he has inherited those dodgy signings so I can't blame Roberto one iota."

Ryan Babel admits his relationship with manager Rafael Benitez could be in better shape…

"I have tried to talk to the manager but it isn't of any use. I couldn't really do anything with the feedback Benitez gave me. We have agreed to look at my situation in the winter. If there's no improvement then, I have to be honest; I want to be somewhere else."

Portsmouth’s Kevin Prince Boateng isn’t doing cartwheels as Paul Hart becomes the first Premier League managerial casualty this season…

"I’m shocked, especially as I had a good relationship with the manager. He brought me to the club and helped revive my career. That was the same with a lot of the players.

I have spoken to a few of the lads and we all feel sorry for him. A lot has happened over the last few months with players not getting paid and people from outside the club hammering us. Paul tried his best to keep the players together and persuade them to give 100 per cent. I am very upset because it is easy to blame the manager. If we lose a game we get changed and go home and life goes on but he gets sacked. It’s not fair."

Cardiff’s Tony Capaldi pre-empts manager Dave Jones’s decision to loan him out to Leeds this week…

"I need to be playing regularly to get the best out of myself. If I’m not needed and I have to move on then fair enough. I would love to stay at Cardiff and play, but I might now just have to move on. Since the FA Cup Final, with injury and the rest, it has not really happened for me here."
