Bayern Munich are reportedly set to swoop for Arsenal defender Philippe Senderos in the January.

The out-of-favour defender seems finally set to leave the Gunners on a permanent basis in the next transfer window having spent last season on loan at AC Milan.

The Swiss international has made just two appearances this season - both in the League Cup.

Senderos has fallen further down the pecking order at the Emirates since the arrival of Thomas Vermaelen from Ajax in the summer.

With next summer’s World Cup in South Africa fast approaching, Senderos is desperate to engineer a move away from Arsenal to go in search of first-team football and a place in the national first-team.

Bayern boss Louis van Gaal sees Senderos as an ideal replacement for Brazilian youngster Breno who is expected to be offloaded on a temporary basis.
