Liverpool moved back into third place in the Barclays Premiership with a comfortable 2-0 win over Middlesbrough - which leaves them needing just one more victory from securing Champions League football next season. After an uninspiring first half, in which Middlesbrough defended with great determination, Liverpool took control with two goals in five minutes. They both came from Steven Gerrard, the first a 25-yard effort and the second from the spot after Peter Crouch had been pushed by Andrew Davies.
