Another week of Premier League brilliance unfolded with Manchester United and Chelsea stars showing their true colours at the top of the Premier League.

Red Devils striker Wayne Rooney was the star of the weekend show, bagging a hat-trick for United in the 4-1 romp against Portsmouth. Veteran midfielder Ryan Giggs provided a wonderful sidekick performance, and his free kick goal was enough to earn a place on the GMF bench.

If Rooney was the individual star, Chelsea were the team shining brightest this weekend as they outgunned Arsenal in a Super Sunday showdown at the Emirates.

Branislav Ivanovic, Ashley Cole and John Terry were all pivotal in snuffing out any sort of attacking threat from the North London side, and all three start in a Blues dominated back four.

Didier Drogba is not to be forgotten either, and the striker starts alongside Rooney thanks to a weekend brace that included a sublime free kick.

Michael Dawson is the other defender for GMF, scoring a crucial equaliser for Spurs whilst halting the Aston Villa charge for the majority of the game at Villa Park.

The man he beat, Brad Friedel, starts in goal despite conceding to the defender. He was brilliant in the second half preventing Tottenham Hotspur from taking all three points.

A mix-and-match midfield for GMF puts Damien Duff on the left, with the winger capping off a fine display with an equaliser against Bolton at Craven Cottage.

Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano starts in the centre of the park, and his goal went alongside a battling performance in the scrappy 2-0 Merseyside derby victory over Everton.

Team-mates Dirk Kuyt and Jamie Carragher both make the bench, the former for his goal and all-round display and the later for his return to form in a crucial defensive performance in a must-win match for the Reds.

Lee Bowyer won the day for Birmingham City in the Midlands derby with Wolves, and the tough-tackling midfielder improves week-by-week for the Blues.

Jack Collison completes the starting line-up after an instrumental display for West Ham in the 5-3 win over Burnley. His early goal set the tone for the Hammers, although Steven Fletcher makes the bench for his late two goal cameo for the Clarets.

Paul Robinson makes the bench for his clean sheet against Stoke, while Titus Bramble was a stand-out for Wigan as the Clarets showed great bouncebackability to beat Sunderland.Saving the best till last, and the precocious Jimmy Bullard makes the bench as much for his celebration as his performance. Both were quite brilliant, and GMF wonders if an England World Cup call-up could be a fairy-tale return to fitness for the joker in the pack.
