Manchester City sent a message to the rest of the League with a resounding 4-2 win against Arsenal. Four players from that Man City side make our squad after their impressive display at the City of Manchester stadium on Saturday.Micah Richards was imposing at right back and capped a solid performance with an assist.  Emmanuel Adebayor managed to score with a towering header. Gareth Barry had a fine game in the centre of midfield and goalkeeper Shay Given made some crucial saves to stop Arsenal getting back into the game.It was manager Mark Hughes who masterminded the victory. He set up his team to defend in numbers and soak up the constant Arsenal pressure, and hit the weary Gunners on the break.In the other blockbuster tie of the weekend, it was Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United who came up best at White Hart Lane against highflying Tottenham.Ryan Giggs scored a sublime free kick to get United back in the game for 1-1. The Red Devils were reduced to 10 men and it was an in form Wayne Rooney who led the line and killed the game with a brilliant individual goal. Nemanja Vidic also had an imposing game in defence.Like Manchester City, Chelsea kept up their 100% record. Frank Lampard was at his consistent best and picked out Didier Drogba to score arguably the best goal of the weekend against Stoke City.Gary Cahill scored late on to secure a vital 3-2 win for Bolton against Portsmouth at Fratton Park.Wigan ground out a priceless victory against West Ham United. The Lactics kept a clean sheet and goalkeeper Chris Kirkland was a key part of that.Liverpool ran out easy winners at Anfield against Burnley. Yossi Benayoun bagged a magnificent hat-trick. Benayoun was part of every goal for the reds in their 4-0 victory. Glen Johnson assisted one of Benayouns goals and helped his side to a clean sheet.Sunderland secured 3 points at home to Hull City. Darren Bent managed to score a brace and Andy Reid was also on the score sheet and set-up a goal for the Black Cats.In Sunday’s games, Richard Dunne had a commanding performance in the Midlands derby as Aston Villa scraped a 1-0 win against Birmingham City.And at Craven Cottage, Paul Konchesky done well to get a half volley on target, as his deflected strike got Fulham back in the game against Everton. Damien Duff scored with a fine strike from outside of the area for his first goal for Fulham and to secure the 2-1 victory.Related Stories
