Dan Gosling is prepared to wait in order to gain regular first-team recognition at Newcastle.

The 21-year-old has made only six appearances for the Magpies since joining from Everton in 2010, owing to frequent injury.

Despite now being fighting fit once more, Gosling finds himself behind Yohan Cabaye, Cheick Tioté, Danny Guthrie and Hatem Ben Arfa in Alan Pardew's selection order.

Gosling does, though, realise he is unlikely to be able to disrupt a, so far, successful midfield, as the Toon sit third in the the Barclays Premier League.

The England under-21 international is, however, patiently awaiting an opportunity - something he will make the most of when given.

"There's a long time [to go] in my career," said Gosling.

"There are internationals here who are playing ahead of me and we sit third in the table at the minute, so the gaffer has obviously been reluctant to change the team, and quite rightly so.

"There has just been no way in, really, so you just keep working hard on the training field and pushing each other and when the chance comes, you've got to be prepared and ready."
