By PA Sport  December 28, 2006
Wigan are to sign Sweden defender Andreas Granqvist on a loan deal from Helsingborgs to the end of the season.

The 21-year-old is due in Wigan on Thursday to put pen to paper on a move that could be made permanent in the summer.

Granqvist, who joins another Swede at the JJB Stadium in striker Andreas Johansson, said: "This is a big step for me. I´m joining the best league in the world and a club I think suits me very well."
