Arsenal are reportedly preparing a loan move for Dutch striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.
The AC Milan striker has found times tough in Serie A, struggling to cement a first team place at the San Siro since making the switch from Real Madrid in the summer.
Huntelaar has an unquestionable track record as a striker, scoring 76 times in 92 league appearances for Ajax before earning his move to La Liga in January '09. There, with chances limited, he scored 8 times in under half-a-season before switching to Italy.
The striker has found times tough since, and has only shone during a handful of substitute appearances for the Rossoneri. Arsene Wenger has much faith in the striker however, with Arsenal previously linked with the forward in the summer.
Frenchman Wenger is thought to have had the opportunity to sign Huntelaar, but felt a fee in the region of £14 million was too much for the Emirates club.
Injuries have forced Wenger to admit that the Gunners will be active in the transfer window however, with the north London club desperate to bring in a striker after the injury picked up by Robin van Persie.
Previously linked with Spurs and Manchester United to name just two, Huntelaar is one of the few strikers seemingly available in the coming transfer window with a proven pedigree at both club and international level. The Evening Standard reports that Arsenal are "exploring the possibility" of a loan move, which would suit both parties at the current time as the striker looks to secure his place for Holland at the 2010 World Cup. Although cup-tied for the Champions League, Wenger has shown in the past that this won't stop him going for a striker. A move looks more than possible for the New Year.
