Arsenal face stiff competition from Manchester City and Real Madrid as the race hots up to sign Diego Perotti.

The Sevilla star has been a huge hit in La Liga, making his mark this season after joining the Spanish club 18 months ago from Buenos Aires based Argentinean side Deportivo Moron.

Signed for £150,000, Perotti currently has a sell-on clause of around the £20 million mark. This is expected to rise to around £27 million, the club valuation, if they can persuade the winger to sign a new contract.

The skillful young Argentinean made his international debut under the Diego Maradona regime against Spain recently, and Perotti is fighting for a place in the World Cup squad for the trip to South Africa.

A high profile move would do nothing to harm his case, and Arsene Wenger is renowned for bringing the best out of players when they come to the Emirates.

Perotti is unaffected by talk of a move however, and recently spoke to talk down the possibility of a possible switch away from the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán stadium.

"This team has given me everything. I feel very comfortable here and I want to succeed,' said the Argentine.

"My future is in the hands of the club."
