Arsenal are reportedly weighing up a bid for Dutch prodigy Ibrahim Afellay.

The 24-year-old is entering the final year of his contract with PSV Eindhoven, and the Dutch club are desperate to keep hold of the tricky winger.

But they run the risk of losing the former Johan Cruyff Award winner on a free transfer if he opts to reject the offer of a new deal, so the Boeren are reportedly prepared to entertain offers for Utrecht born midfielder.

The Sun suggests that Arsene Wenger is mulling over an offer of £7 million for the Holland international, and Afellay’s agent has offered a glimmer of hope to the Gunners boss.

"It's possible Ibrahim will want to stay at PSV but there is a chance of a move elsewhere,” said Rob Jansen.

"In football, you never know. There are teams interested in him for sure."

Afellay has been earmarked as a potential Holland superstar since his breakthrough season with PSV in 2005/06. He has since gone on to represent his country 26 times – including twice during the 2010 World Cup – and reportedly has a buy out clause in his contract of an astonishing €50 million.
