Accrington chief executive Robert Heys has claimed clubs who have entered administration have a "moral" obligation to pay their debts in full.
He hit out after reports suggested Stanley were on the verge of entering administration themselves following cost-cutting measures at the club.
The Reds, who lie 19th in League Two, have the lowest average attendance in the league but Heys is confident the club can avoid any such eventuality.
He told PA Sport: "As a football club the idea of going into administration has moral issues.
"The idea you settle part of a debt when companies are going under because of the credit crunch is not an idea we have even considered looking at, it's immoral.
"It is something we have always looked to avoid and by making the cost-cutting measures now it will ensure that Accrington will not become another statistic."
