Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp is reported to want Aston Villa midfielder Nigel Reo-Coker as part of a deal that could see winger David Bentley move the other way to the Midlands outfit.

Bentley, Jermaine Jenas and Tom Huddlestone are all thought to be transfer targets of Villa boss Martin O’Neill, even though he was initially discouraged by the asking prices placed on each individual.

Spurs’ chief Redknapp was close to taking Reo-Coker to Fratton Park while he was in charge at Portsmouth, before a proposed deal for the player collapsed. He also made an unsuccessful enquiry for the former England Under 21 international on behalf of Tottenham in January last term.

Spurs could face some competition for Reo-Coker's signature however, as Sunderland and Everton are believed to be among a host of other clubs keen on the player.

Meanwhile, Didier Zokora, who is currently away on World Cup qualifying duty with the Ivory Coast, looks set to leave White Hart Lane.

"There will be an announcement on my future very soon," he told skysports.com.

"I am just concentrating on winning a very important game for my country on Saturday (against Burkina Faso), so transfer talk is not important at the moment."
