Juventus are reported to be lining up an £8 million bid for Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel, according to the News of the World.
Skrtel has been outlined as the top target to replace veteran centre back Fabio Cannavaro who only signed for Juventus last summer.GiveMeFootball TVFabio Capello and England learn their fate in Euro 2012 group >>
However, the 25-year-old’s contract is not due to expire till the end of the 2011/2012 season and Benitez is thought to want to keep hold of the defender.
The Slovakian international has been unable to hold down a regular first-team spot this season and was only named as a substitute at the weekend in the Red’s 1-0 win over local rivals Everton.
Rafa Benitez has also been linked with a move to Juventus in recent weeks but the Liverpool boss has strongly rejected these claims.
Skrtel joined the Reds in 2008 for a transfer fee in the region of £6.5million. He has made over 50 appearances so far for Liverpool scoring just one goal.
