Jason Koumas was on Sunday named the best player outside the Barclays Premiership - but admitted his West Brom career could have gone in a very different direction this season. It seemed last summer as though Koumas would never play again for the club after a dispute over a proposed move to Cardiff. But he was handed a second chance at The Hawthorns, and he seized it with both hands to claim the top spot in FourFourTwo magazine´s annual awards to determine the best 50 players outside the top flight."It is a wonderful honour," said Koumas. "It has come as a surprise, but it is great that people inside the game have voted for me."
