Arguably the result of the weekend was Telford United's 1-0 victory at First Division Crewe, thus making goalscorer Lee Mills 'the man of the moment'. Brian Beard was first to talk to Lee after the game, indeed got closer to the Telford striker than any Crewe defender did after just 75 seconds when he headed what proved to be the only goal of the game.

Q:A GOOD DAY ALL ROUND?

A:Yes, the lads worked their socks off and although we won the game, I feel a bit sorry for Crewe because they played some good football and it's us that's getting the plaudits, but they are a good footballing side.

Q:THE WHOLE TEAM HAD TO DEFEND MAGNIFICENTLY AND THEY DID SO FOR 90 MINUTES?

A:Yes, but it does help if you have got a goal to hang on to. It did get a bit one-sided towards the end but us having that goal helped. It was a case of all hands to the pumps and the lads responded brilliantly.

Q:ARE YOU A BIT SURPRISED THAT YOU HAVE WON AT FIRST DIVISION CREWE?

A:Not really, we beat Brentford in the last round, 3-0, and that was probably a very similar game to this. We got the goals at the right time in that game and defended very well afterwards and we have done the same at Crewe.

Q:EIGHTEEN YEARS AGO TELFORD GOT TO THE FIFTH ROUND NOW EVERYONE WILL BE TALKING ABOUT YOU?

A:I don't really know what Telford have done in the past but this result is good for the town as well as the club. If we can get everyone talking about the club and maybe getting the gates up that will be great for Telford United.

Q:DO YOU SEE THIS AS BEING A BIT OF A SPRINGBOARD TO HELP THE CLUB GET INTO THE NATIONWIDE LEAGUE?

A:Yes, that's our main aim. The FA Cup is what dreams are all about really, especially for some of our younger players. But getting out of the Conference and into the league is the club's main aim and that's what we will be hoping to do this season.

Q:YOUR GOALKEEPER DID WELL WHEN YOU WERE UNDER SEVERE PRESSURE, WITH SOME EXCELLENT SAVES?

A:Chris had a bit of a bad time, with family problems, and he never really told the lads about it, but I think the way he has improved over the past few games has been fantastic and I have to take my hat off to him. For him to bounce back the way he has is absolutely fantastic.

Q:AT THE OTHER END, WERE YOU SURPRISED WITH THE SPACE YOU WERE ALLOWED TO GET IN YOUR NEAR POST HEADER?

A:That's probably because I take up a lot of space, as I have put a bit of weight on these days. It was a great ball in from Fitzroy and interestingly the gaffer has been telling us that Crewe like to ping balls in to the near post so let's try and do the same. It paid off for us, from the first corner, so all credit to our manager for that one.
