The agent of Kevin-Prince Boateng has claimed Liverpool are interested in the Portsmouth midfielder as talks over a move to Italian side Genoa have broken down.

The Ghana midfielder has attracted interest from a wide range of sources as Pompey try to sell off their prized asset.

Boateng impressed at the World Cup until Ghana were cruelly knocked out by Uruguay in the quarter finals.

Mario Miele told lalaziosiamonoi.it: “We are always in contact with Genoa. Until a few days ago there was constant dialogue and everything seemed to be coming towards a conclusion.

“But since then everything has reached deadlock. I don’t think everything is over, because no-one has told me that, so I suppose the interest is still there.

“We will have to wait and see what happens now over the coming days. The market is slow right now, even if there are a lot of clubs interested in the player.

“A few days ago I heard that Liverpool and Everton were keen, and also Besiktas. Today I have read that Stoke are interested, but I know nothing about that,” he added.

West Ham have also been interested ever since Avram Grant, who managed the German-born ace at Fratton Park, was installed as manager at the Boleyn Ground.
